Subject: Better Document Than Movie
It's fascinating to consider a time that Beatniks might be considered some demonized force for evil instead of the more common stereotype as lovable kooks. Of course you get both kinds here, so I'm not sure what to say. Except that it's interesting that the real villains wear suits, man.

Worth watching for Falk, and because it's mercifully brief.

Subject: Bloody Brood not really all that bad
I don't wish for this to become a review of what someone else wrote in a review, but let me get this off my chest: the fact that torgman used Falk's Alzheimer's to make his/her point about how lousy this movie is supposed to be is, at the very least, in extremely poor taste. I certainly hope that reviewer never has to experience the heartbreak of a close loved one developing that disease. If so, I should hope that person will not be so flippant about THEIR misfortune.

Now--The Bloody Brood is, by no means, the worst movie I have ever seen. That distinction belongs to Plan 9 From Outer Space! I must confess I watched Bloody Brood only to see
Peter Falk. That fact, and the campiness of this movie are the reasons I can't exacrly dislike it. It is interesting, believe it or not. The main thing that brings it down, though, is the fact that the beatniks are such caricatures of the real things. I have to laugh at their antics which, I assume, were meant to be taken seriously. Hard to tell for sure. But Falk elevates the proceedings by just showing up in his scenes, and he manages to add credibility to an otherwise cartoonishly over-the-top film.

Subject: One cannot help thinking of Charlie Manson.
A twisted story about some twisted people slipping over the edge.

It is eerie that “Charlie in Los Angeles” was calling. Charlie is bored. The next thing you know, someone has been murdered. I didn’t mind the beatnik stereotype. It’s cartoonish – like the ‘rock and roll’ music that you would hear on the Beverly Hillbillies.

I did enjoy the story in a strange way. Just add one more reason to the list as to why I’m glad I’m not on acid.

Subject: Peter Falk As A Charlies Manson Prototype For Beatnicks
Just so you all know this is the edited version (the scene where the kid is shown eating the laced hamburger is missing - it comes right after he enters the apartment and before the scene with his brother in his room). This film and The Mask (1963) in partial 3-D were the directors only films. Saw a pristine print of this some years ago and while it's hampered by an extremely low budget it has a nasty edge to it. The photography elicits a claustrophobic and barren atmosphere. Which reflects the characters in the film perfectly. It's Peter Falk's acting which raises this up from its skid row surroundings. He gives this clean-cut, intelligent and yet deranged performance that seems to mirror the real life Charles Manson's mannerisms years later. If you don't expect much you just might like it. I recommend it as the second feature on a double bill with a Bucket Of Blood (1959).

Subject: Great
While the charming reviewer torgman, if that is his real name, thinks it's a good thing Peter Falk has Alzheimer's, & the delightful SonOfChaos seems to be hung up on some demons from his past, I actually really liked this film.

I'd love to see a remake with some "Frat boy" "Bro" types in place of the beatniks. That would be even >!

I was just shy of putting ice picks through my ears cause of the dialogue of this film was so bad. This stereotype of beatniks is SOOOOOO over the top and ridiculous that I simply could not stand it. This film was simply awful.

Wow, like this flick was the most, man.
The band in the club was very good. The acting, great.
I couldn't stop thinking that this is Charley Manson's father in action.
Very good movie. Please watch it, and thank you whom ever submitted it.
